Doing the most, while wearing the least

As a restorative brand we turn waste into iconic pieces while restoring coral reef ecosystems.

For every swimsuit purchased, you are helping restore the San Andrés Coral Reef in San Andrés, Colombia.

As a Colombian based label, the BAOBAB team has come to understand sustainability as the only guarantee to prolonged, quality life on this planet. As a sustainable fashion brand, we are responsible with people and the environment.

We believe in the power of trend innovation to position materials and generate a positive impact. We want each garment to tell a story about sustainability. We currently sell in 10 department stores and over 200 boutiques worldwide.

SUSTAINABILITY

OUR SOUL

Mission

To be known around the world as an innovative brand for our designs and our sustainability strategies.

Vision

To become a driver of change by innovating and sharing our learnings, opening the path for other brands in the industry.

BAOBAB IN 3 QUESTIONS

This is our core and our soul.

¿WHY? Our brand soul resides in innovating, challenging design and sustainability paradigms. This purpose must be connected to any product, service, or project. Above all, we want to be the standard in zero-waste design.

¿WHAT? Currently, we offer beachwear, knitwear, and a gastronomic experience called COCO. However, one of the goals is to diversify income into other products and services to diminish the pressure on textile production.

¿FOR WHOM? We aim to integrate all our stakeholders' requirements, acknowledging the importance of solving the needs of our core employees, suppliers, customers, and the environment.

SUSTAINABILITY FOR US

Sustainability is not about storytelling but about decision-making. It is not measured in words but in actions. In our sustainability journey, our steps are called: Sustainable Strategies. Each strategy is designed to reduce negative externalities within our value chain and create positive ones. Each company has a different materiality, which are the issues that are more relevant because of their impact on the stakeholders. Our material topics are: Labor conditions and textile waste.

CARING

According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation A new textiles economy: Redesigning fashion’s future (2017):

  • 35% of primary microplastics entering the ocean are released through the washing of textiles.
  • Washing and drying clothing alone are estimated to account for 120 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
  •  Washing clothing using washing machines is estimated to require an additional 20 billion cubic meters of water per year globally.
  • As garments are washed, chemicals that remain on them from production can be released into wastewater or transported on microfibres which are shed and end up in the environment.
  • Product use is the second activity with higher GHG emissions accounting for 20% of the total value chain impact.

CASCADE

PURPOSE

To generate zero textile waste. CASACADE is a reverse logistics system designed to avoid, minimize, reintegrate, and manage textile waste in such a way that it does not reach landfills.

TREE OF LIFE

We promote a conjunct commitment to comply with the organizational culture by all internal stakeholders, linked to a program of reward that promotes the sensibility towards sustainability and supports environmental organizations.
